I am experiencing wacky behavior with my computer and the error message
points to AD so please forgive me if I'm in the wrong forum.

I am running Windows 2000 Professional Version 5.0.2195 Service Pack 4 Build
2195.

My computer is one of three in my small home network. We do not have a
server product running; our computers are connected to each other via a
Linksys router.

On each computer we have created identical accounts, one for
adminstistrator, one for me and one for my husband. This allows us to
minimize the number of usernames and passwords that we have to remember and
makes things look a little more seamless as if a server were involved.

My problem is this. I go to Manage | Users and Groups | Users and try to
delete a user. I am first prompted about whether I really want to delete the
user or not, and I agree that I do. Then I receive this error and I'm unable
to delete the user:

The following error occurred while attempting to delete the user :
An invalid Active Directory Pathname was passed

I found this KB article: "Invalid Active Directory Pathname Was Passed"
Error Message When You Try to Copy an Object
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/826374/en-us

But I'm not sure that will actually fix it because although I am running
Win2kSP4, I'm not to my knowledge using LDAP and none of the usernames have
a (/) in them.

I can certainly try installing the hotfix, but would like to hear some
advice from you geeky gurus as to whether this problem is common on Win2k
when there is no server product present.

Thanks, in advance, for your help! :)
