Intuit says that my registry is corrupted-QBooks won't install-hel

I'm the treasurer for a new non-profit, and I purchased and downloaded
Quickbooks Pro 2005, but when I try to install the program, I get an error
message that says "Cannot verify publisher-Are you sure you want to run this
program?" The tech support woman says that the registry file is corrupt,
that's why it doesn't recognize Intuit as the publisher. I really need to get
this program going, but am very nervous about playing with registries... Can
someone help?

You can try to perform a repair installation of XP and then attempt to
install Quickbooks.

Perform a Repair Install by following the step by step below.

Insert the XP Installation CD and boot from the CD.

When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, you will see the options below

This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft Windows XP to run on
your computer:

To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.

To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.

To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.

Press Enter to start the Windows Setup.

Accept the License Agreement and Windows will search for existing Windows
installations.

Select the XP installation you want to repair from the list and press R to
start the repair.

Setup will copy the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot. Do not
press any key to boot from CD when the message appears. Setup will continue
as if it were doing a clean install, but your applications and settings will
remain intact.

Do not immediately activate over the internet when asked, enable the XP
firewall before connecting to the internet. You can activate after the
firewall is enabled. Control Panel - Network Connections. Right click the
connection you use, Properties, and there is a check box on the advanced
page.

Reapply updates or service packs applied since initial Windows XP installation

Have you done all your Windows Updates? If you trust that the program is
really Quickbooks from Intuit and not corrupted with any spyware or
virus then why not try saying yes when the installer asks if you are
sure you want to run it. It sounds to me like a dialogue box rather than
an error message.
