intrnet explorer closing upon opening

every time i open internet explorer, it loads my home
page and then closes down. sometimes it will let me
explore other pages but only a few, then it will shut
down again. i just took a couple of viruses and adware
off my pc is that where the problem came from? i had a
yahoo search bar up and it's gone and i can't put it
back, when i do it gives me an IE search bar. and also
if i try to open a new window the original closes as soon
as the new one opens. please help!!!!!!!!!! i work from
my pc.
