Hi. Can anyone help me with removing a trojan/worm
I am running XP and I picked up a worm,( HTTP lop toolbar activtioy)

it pops every 30.sec. My Norton keep blocking it

any suggestions you have would be most
appreciated...

Try removing it with Antivira AV. Its usually pretty good at cleaning
problems up. Make sure Windows Firewall is activated once it's cleaned, and
pop-up blocking is enabled too.

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the first link above (not here, please).

Standard caveat: If the procedures look too complex - and there is no
shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a
professional computer repair shop (not your local version of
BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). Please be aware that not all local shops
are skilled at removing malware and even if they are, your computer may
be so infested that Windows will need to be clean-installed. Have all
your data backed up before you take the machine into a shop.

1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced.
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
= Then try to Disable the Add-Ons on your Browser somehow installed on your
browser, On how to disable the Add-ons follow this:
Click on Programs Tab and then click the Manage Add-Ons Button there Disable
the None/Not Verified Plug-ins/Add-ons ( you need to Renable them one-by-one
later and see which is the culprit or you can send them here in your next
post) and click [OK] to confirm your Changes.

Click on Advanced Tab and scroll down under the browsing option and uncheck
this box:

[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) and click Apply
then OK to close your IE Properties.

Go to Symantec and look it up; manual removal instructions will be there.
In fact, the popup probably gives you the link to it!
