I'm on XP, Home Edition. Out of curiosity the other day
I clicked on a popup from Internet Washer Pro, inviting
me to find out more about their product. Big mistake.
The program automatically downloaded onto my desktop, and
now I can't remove it without first installing it --
which requires a credit card number for an undisclosed
amount. Seems like this must be illegal. It's certainly
unethical.

The icon is just sitting there on my desktop, and starts
running whenever the computer is turned on. I have to
use Task Manager each time to exit it. I'm also worried
about leaving it on my desktop.

Any suggestions about how to remove this program from my
computer? Thanks to all for their help.

go>start\run and type in regedit and then click edit at
the top and then find and type in Washer and then hit your
enter key. Now right click on the folder with the name
washer pro in the left window and then click delete. If it
is just an entry in the right window then right click it
and click delete. Now click edit and then find next. You
may have to do this a number of times until a window comes
up stating that regedit is finished searching the
registry. Be careful when editing the registry and when in
doubt do not delete. Good luck.

Before trying to edit the registry to resolve this, you might try using
System Restore. Start\All Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore.
