Internet too slow wint Win XP

Does anyone had have a very slow speed connection when
using windows WinXP?. I have checked for viruses and were
not found. If I use a labtop win 98 using same phone line
works just fine. any nre idea?

Look for the modem vendor's website and see if there is a more
current XP device driver for that modem.

It may be an artifact of which speed is being reported -- some
drivers sometimes report the COM port speed instead of the
actual connection speed. To be sure, measure the upload and
download datarates for some large file with both PCs.

After trying all suggestions from all folks, you may have to
live with it: there are several cases where, it seems, that
XP's networking is slower than W9x's.
