Internet Speed on DSL

Is there a WindowsXP.Networking group? I can't find one except for one out
of the U.S.

On WinxXP, is configured to Autosense speed. Using DSL, speed is running
at 10 bps. Is this normal? LAN can run at 100 bps, but Internet speed is
10bps. That's what it would run if using a modem, isn't it? Any way to
improve the Internet speed?

XP does not autosense. The Network Adapter Hardware combined with its
corresponding software Driver do the autosense and it only applies to the
LAN Cabling to determine if the LAN Equipment is running 10mbps, 100mbps, or
1000mbps. The autosense makes the Network Adapter and the immediately
adjacent Switch Port "agree" on what speed they are going to communicate at
and there are only 3 settings (10, 100, 1000).

The LAN is typically 100mbps (not bps)

If the DSL is 10 mbps that is very fast,..DSL usually only gets 2 or 3 mbps
download speed.

CableTV Internet usually gets arounf 6 to 10 mbps download speed.

The upload speed of both CableTV or DSL may only be around 512 to 700+/-
kbps (that's *k*bps, not mbps)

You are confusing your DSL speed with your internal network speed. DSL
comes to the internal network and then the internal network just
passes it along, no increase, no decrease. Yes computer to computer
speed can be upto 100 on the internal network but DSL will NEVER
approach that. In fact Cable hookups do not usually get that high. The
new FIOS can be as high as 50 delivered to the home network but again
no increase within your home network.
