Hello all,

I'm having a strange problem that I have not found any
solution on the internet for.

Previously, I would keep some web pages in my taskbar.
Googe, Yahoo, New York Times, etc. I did what everyone
did: I loaded the page, then click-dragged the
icon/address to the taskbar, or the desktop.

Then I just click on the button, and IE opens to that
page. Saves having to load IE, then redirect from the home
page. No muss No fuss. Just like everyone else in the
world.

But now, whenever I click on the button, IE opens, but
then gives me an error message that says:

"Windows cannot find 'http://www.google.com/'. Make sure
you typed the name correctly, and try again. To search
for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search."

Very strange. The address is entered correctly (I dragged
it off the address bar onto the taskbar, and the page had
loaded correctly.

I cannot recall exactly when this problem started (I don't
know if I changed a setting, or if an update changed it,
etc.)

I tried deleting the buttons and loading new ones. No dice.

If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate
it.

Thanks

Try some of the following steps, they might help:

1. Delete Temporary Internet files including all offline
content.
2. Delete cookies
3. Clear History.
4. Reboot your computer.

Note: If you want to keep your History, Cookies and
Temporary Internet files, I suggest you back them up
before attempting step 1 to 3 above and then restore them
later.

Good luck.

whenever I click on the button, IE opens, but
then gives me an error message that says:
....

Try an IE Repair or try KB831429 (Method 1)

If you're lucky this command from the above may do the trick:

regsvr32 /i urlmon.dll

Good luck

Jasong,

Did you install a different web browser lately? Some browsers wildly erase the DDEExec Internet Shortcut keys.

Try REGSVR32 /i SHDOCVW from RUN box.
