My desktopPC is running windowsXP as is my laptop. I
have a belkin router. The cable modem is connected to
the router and then to the desktopPC. I use the disk
that came with the router to set it up and it went
through successfully. I now want to share internet with
my laptop. The laptop internal wireless card is working
properly according to the gateway support person after we
did several things. When I try to share the internet
connection a message comes up on the desktop that I
cannot share it. I'm uncertain if the router is not
sending the signal or windowsXP has to be configured
differently on the desktop. I got the internet sharing
working several days ago and then my desktop crashed with
windowsME therefore I formatted and installed windowsXP
and now I'm frustrated. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance.

Javier,

You should be able to get your laptop accessing the internet - but the
desktop shouldn't be involved at all. The Belkin router should be the
default gateway for the laptop, just as it is for the desktop. I'm
assuming that the laptop connects to the Belkin wirelessly.

Please provide ipconfig data for both the desktop and laptop. Start -
Run - "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in
Notepad - copy and paste into your next post.

Cheers,
Chuck
