Internet sharing.

I'm on a school network and wish to hook my laptop up to
the network by sharing the connection through my
desktop's 2 ethernet cards. This turns out to be the
cheapest option available to me.

The problem is I can't share my internet connection. I
go to network connections, click on properties of either
of the cards and go to the advanced tab...but the option
is just not there. I have seen this same issue on other
people's computers so I don't know why your knowledge
base's article on how to share internet connection does
not discuss what to do if they button to push is not
where they tell you go. My school's technical support
team does not know what the problem is either.

The internet connection is what you need to set for
sharing. Right click on your modem icon and choose
properties. Click on advanced and then select internet
connection sharing from there. You should see at this
point a drop down list of networks to make available to
the internet connection.

Does that help?

The ICS option only appears when all of these are true:

1. There are at least two enabled, connected network connections: one
for the Internet, and one or more for the LAN.

2. The Internet Connection Firewall is disabled on the LAN
connection(s).

3. The Internet connection isn't bridged.
