I have two PC's one XP Pro with a ADSL Broadband
connection the other has win98. I want to share the
Broadband connection and have run the network connection
wizard which creates a disk, the disk loaded the
information onto the win98 PC, that PC now shows a
Internet Gateway icon on the toolbar which
states "unconfigured" I cannot find anyway to configure
it or get connected to the web.

Can anyone help?

Kind regards

Nik

1. Purchase one wireless internet router

2. Purchase a wireless adapter card for your Win 98 computer.

Have you enabled Internet Connection Sharing on the XP Pro computer's
ADSL connection? Right click the ADSL connection, click Properties |
Advanced , and put check marks in both boxes under "Internet
Connection Sharing".

Then, reboot the win98 computer and run these tests to see if ICS is
working:

1. On the XP computer, right click the local area network connection
(not the ADSL connection) and click Status | Support | Details. It
should show:

IP Address: 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: none
DNS Server = none

2. On the win98 computer, go to Start | Run | Winipcfg, select the
network card, and click More Info. It should show:

IP Address: 192.168.0.x (1<x<255)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS Server = 192.168.0.1

3. If #1 and #2 are right, open a command prompt window on win98 and
enter these lines. Each one should get four replies:

ping 192.168.0.1
ping 216.239.39.100
ping www.google.com
