HI

I have 2 PC's

1st PC is Windows2000
2nd PC is XP Home

I have coonected both PC's using a crossover cable and
given a static ip to 1st PC and 2nd PC.
I can ping both machine and map drive and move files
around no problem.
Problem is 1st PC is connecting to internet via a dial up
modem and I want to share the internet connection from 1st
PC via 2nd PC. I have tried all soultion I can think of
but it's still not working, please help

Thanks

On the 1st PC right click My Network Places and select Properties. Right
click your Dialup Internet connection and select properties. Click on the
Sharing tab and check the box for Enable Internet connection sharing. Set
both machines to obtain an IP address automatically. Reboot the 1st PC.
Reboot the 2nd PC.

What appears from your query is that you have a modem connected to the 1st
PC and 2nd PC connected to the 1st using a crossover cable. Both PCs have
their own NIC cards as you are able to configure the Static IPs. Right?

If that's the case, you can infact share the internet connection by enabling
Internet Connection Sharing on the 1st PC.(Look Help and Support for how to
enable ICS on a host)
Internet Connection Sharing is intended for use in a network where the ICS
host computer directs network communication between computers and the
Internet. You don't need a static IP address for the 2nd Pc. Configure it to
automatically obtain the IP address.

Of course you can do this. All you need to do is enable Internet Connection
Sharing(ICS) on the 1st PC.(see Help and Support for details) Configure the
2nd PC to automatically obtain IP addresses. Internet Connection Sharing is
intended for use in a network where the ICS host computer directs network
communication between computers and the Internet.
the 2nd PC will get an Ip address (in the range 192.168.xxx.xxx) and connect
to the internet with 1st Pc acting as a kind of Proxy.
