Hi,

I have a home network setup here. One pc is running win2000, the other one
win98. Both pc's see each other, i can access both discs, but i can't share
my internet connection (worked perfect till last week - till the network
card from this pc got loose...)

Can anybody tell me what might be the reason for this? And how gateway or
dns works...I know I gave IP addresses last time, also dns & gateway, but
can't get it to work anymore...

On the pc running win98, the right protocols are installed, also the network
card...

thanks

If you're using Win98SE as the ICS host, see this site:

ICS Installation [Win98SE]
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/ics/icsinstall.htm

If you're using Win2000 as the ICS host, see these sites:

ICS for Win2000 - Broadband WAN Connection

ICS for Win2000 - DialUp WAN Connection

It's easiest to configure the client computer to obtain an IP address
automatically. If you want to configure the client with a static IP
address, make all of these settings:

IP Address: 192.168.0.x (1<x<255)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS Server = 192.168.0.1 or your ISP's DNS server

ok, got it fixed...

seemed I used a static IP address now...but I think I made a fault with the
gateway...

but thanks for the answers
