I have 2 pcs sharing ADSL internet access via crossed cables. One of them is
using Win XP home edition (main), and the other one is using Win 98 (supp).

When I need to access the internet for the supp pc, the main pc has to be
on. Is there any other way I can access the internet without switching on
the main pc? Perhaps split the ADSL facility from the phone socket? Can tat
be done?

Do you have an external ADSL modem? If so, use a home broadband
router to give each pc independent Internet access:

1. Disable Internet Connection Sharing on the main pc.
2. Get a home broadband router (available at computer and office
supply stores).
3. Connect the ADSL modem to the router's WAN port.
4. Connect both pcs to the router's LAN ports.

If you have an internal ADSL modem, I don't know of any way to do what
you want.
