I recently upgraded to a higher speed DSL service.
Everything was okay for a week and then I got a message
that said 'remote modem not responding'. After 3 phone
calls to provider and given advice on how to change
settings, I now get the message 'Error 692 hardware fail
in modem. Modem is not configured. Make sure your
computer can access the modem & dial up network using the
correct modem'.
I am at a loss as to how to get myself reconnected to the
internet. I no longer have any of the booklets that come
with my softwear and would appreciate any information that
may get back up and running. Thanks, Jean

Sounds like your system is trying to use the old modem. Your DSL connection
should be by way of Ethernet adapter connected to your DSL modem. This
really isn't an operating system setup issue.
