when i click on the tools tab and go to internet options there is no general
tab can anybody help?

Start-Run-Regedit

There could be more than one "GeneralTab" value.
Try these keys first and then search for GeneralTab (no space)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Control Panel

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Control Panel

Remove "GeneralTab" if present.

Now, check for the parasite that removed the tab.

Perhaps you misunderstood my reply?
I didn't ask you to look for "general tabs" in the Registry.
I asked you to look for the value "GeneralTab"

i do not understand what is meant by looking for the value general tab how do
i do this?

in the hkey-current-user\ there is a "generaltab" should i delete it? that is
the only one .

If you mean HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Control Panel then remove "GeneralTab" as already indicated
in my first response.
