One other thing I wanted to ask...Does any one know how to
re-gain access to the Internet options button under tools
in IE? I'm not exactly sure what happened, but about 4
hours ago, I restricted a website that kept making itself
my homepage, and when I did, it re-became my homepage and
now I am unable to gain access to Internet Options. I get
this message: "This operation has been cancelled due to
restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact
your system administrator." However, I am the system
administrator. Also, when I enter I.O. through control
panel, the area where you would type your chosen home page
address AND the three buttons below it (Use Current, Use
Default, Use Blank) are all grayed out. I'm not sure what
to do, and any help would be appreciated.

Thanx, Rashid A. Battles/ (e-mail address removed)

Refer Fix 268 from Kelly's site:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Restore All tabs in IE and Removes the ** Internet Options ** Restrictions
as well

** The cause may be due to a spyware. Download Ad-Aware from
www.lavasoftusa.com, scan the system and eliminate the malware products.
Re-apply the above if necessary.

While the other replies tell you to use ad-aware I
personally believe that SpyBot Search and Destroy is a far
superior product. Although more technical than ad-aware it
does have features like an innoculation feature that stops
some xxx sites from being accessed along with other issues
like pop-ups from them. It also has a home page hijack
blocking utility that will stop anyone or anything from
changing the home page. In expert mode it allows you to
clean history files along with stream history and MRU's
and so on. Good luck.

Actually, That's the one I down loaded when I started
having the problem-I like what it offers. However, it is,
as you say, more technical (far too technical for me), and
although I've read the helpfile, I don't know how to use
it (I'm visiting a support site regularly to learn how).
BUT, thanks for the info.
