"Internet Options" - no access "contact administrator"

I installed a cable modem (Adelphia) and after the
software ran it wanted a network password. I'm home
alone, ever used a password for this so I click cancel.
It asks me the same thing each time I startup, but then
runs fine except:

- I can't access "internet options" in ie6 -
says "contact administrator"

- Can't access network setting through "Neighborhood
network"

I'm running Win 98 & ie6.

My cable modem and mail work fine - just can't change my
start page & other settings.

E,

Close IE.
Open Regedit.
Find the value NoBrowserOptions and remove every instance of it.

You might try this from Mike Burgess first if you use SpyBot:
'Did you by chance run SpyBot's Immunize feature?
If so, you can unlock by unchecking the option to "Protect IE Control
Panel". See:

Edward,

Reset the Internet Explorer tabs and remove all the browser restrictions.
Download the script from:

Remove IE Restrictions & Restore Missing tabs
http://www.angelfire.com/dragon/sramesh2k/reg/IE_reset_restrictions.reg

Also, refer Fix 268 from Kelly's site:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Restore All tabs in IE and Removes the ** Internet Options ** Restrictions
as well

The problem is due to a spyware. Download Ad-Aware from www.lavasoftusa.com,
scan the system and eliminate the malware products. Re-apply the above fix
if necessary.
** Remember to update the pattern file using WebUpdate in Ad-Aware **
