Internet Options: locked out

C

CB

All of a sudden, after disabling the "Enable third-party browser extensions"
option, I get the following message when clicking on the Tools > Internet
Options... item:

"This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this
computer. Please contact your system administrator."

However, I am the administrator on this computer. How can I get this back
to normal?

Thanks, Chris

Chris,
Did you by chance run SpyBot's Immunize feature?
"Lock IE control panel against opening from within IE (current user)"

Remove IE Restrictions & Restore Missing tabs. Download a fix from:
http://www.angelfire.com/dragon/sramesh2k/reg/IE_reset_restrictions.reg

The problem may be due to:

1. A spyware. Download Ad-Aware from www.lavasoftusa.com, scan the system
and eliminate the malware products. Re-apply the above fix if necessary.
** Remember to update the pattern file using WebUpdate in Ad-Aware **

( Caused by a malware called CoolWebSearch. Also, Download:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip )

2. You have enabled SpyBot immunize (protection) feature or any other
similar software.
