Internet Options Freezes when OK pressed

I changed the "amount of disk space to use" in my IE
Explorer internet options and now when ever I go into
Internet Options then press OK to exit, it just sits there
with the hour glass. I wait quite a while before I give up
and end process using task manager which shows 2 instances
of IE Explorer "not responding". Any ideas? I'm on WIN XP
with SP2. Thanks

Joe--

If it helps for perspective, I have had this happening with XP RTM, as have
a lot of people so it's not an SP2 phenomenon exclusively for anybody to my
knowledge, although it might be for a subset of people. *I have worked
around it by not pressing OKAY and just hitting apply.* It's not the only
situation where an "OK" in XP can freeze you. I think the glitch is
talked about in a lot of places, but I'd be appreciative of the reasons for
it and a fix also.

Thanks for the input Chad. I was thinking that this
freezing in IE could also be the reason that my Windows
Update now hangs when I try to use it. I had to order SP2
on CD to install it. After installing SP2, Windows Update
worked again but the first critical update I tried to
install, WU hung up again.
I think the problem with Windows Update started when V5
got installed. It looks prettier than V4 it just doesn't
work. Sorry for the sarcism but it's frustrating that a
feature like Windows Update has the capability to destroy
itself. It's my fault I guess, it wasn't broke but I fixed
it.

I don't think the two are related. I don't have any WU problem, but that's
not statistical just my case. The problem with internet options and XP I
think, is in the category of a known glitch. As I said, it's persisted
through XP, XP SP1, all builds of SP2, and SP2 RTM. Maybe some of the IE
enthusiasts will have some insight. I will try to research both of them.
I try to keep close tabs on the XP SP2 KBs as they come out, and I will look
again, but the list of about 160 doesn't seem to mention either of these
issues.

I'll also try to research both of them some.
