A site kept setting itself as my homepage, even after I
tried to reset it and reboot, and I even used some spyware
to try to get it to stop. It would stay as my page for a
while and then for no reason out of the blue it would
revert to this other page.

I unintentionally hit a button to "reset my internet
options" and now I can't even get into the Internet
Options box. When I click on it is says, "This operation
has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this
computer. Please contact your system administrator."

Help? How can I fix this? Also, all my buttons are
wrong, and I can't seem to get my favorites to be in a
drop down anymore.

1. Use the following scanners to find and remove the website.

SpyBot S&D searches your harddisk for so-called spy- or adbots;
http://security.kolla.de/
or
Adaware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
or
CWShredder
http://www.spychecker.com/program/cwshredder.html

2. Repair Internet Explorer

If you have Windows 98 or ME, From Control Panel select Add/Remove Programs.
Scroll down to Microsoft Internet Explorer and highlight it. Click on the
Add/Remove button. When the IE Tools menu comes up, select Repair. Click OK.

3. If repairing does not work, uninstall and reinstall IE. At the same IE
Tools menu, select "Restore the previous Windows configuration". Then
reinstall Internet Explore.

You can also access the IE Toolbar by clicking Start > Run and type

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt"

4. If you have Windows 98 or ME, use IE Eradicator to completely delete
Internet Explorer.

Make sure you have downloaded the IE6 setup files first, but not loaded.
Backup your Favorites folder.

Hi,
It sounds like you used the Immunize feature in Spybot. Open Spybot in
Advanced mode and remove the restriction.

Don

How do I get it to start in advanced mode?

Thanks! This is what helped! The "repair" fixed the
problem and I can access my Options now. Thanks again! ^_^
