Hi all, I've been working on a machine that was hijacked with all the
trimmings. I have successfully run adaware, cwshredder, stinger, spybot,
removed the dso registry settings etc... everything comes up clean now. The
computer connects to the network and I can ping ip's and names from the cmd
prompt, but when I try to use a browser(IE or Netscape) nothing, or update
any app(adaware, norton, etc) same. If I boot into safe mode, browsers work.
I have startup running only the basics. Any advice about what will get this
working?

Thanx, T.Khan

Try repairing the Winsock connection.
look at the tools listed at the very bottom of the page:

Thanx Mac,
I will try this weekend when on the client site. Hopefully it will work, if
not, it's the right track to follow. Thanks for the info and I will check
back w/ results.

After many hours and a few more gray hairs, I traced it down to Norton
Antivirus. It had been corrupted by a virus or adware cr*p and was blocking
everything. As soon as I traced it to the norton services and uninstalled to
program, viola,it ran perfect. I have been coming increasingly disappointed
with NAV, and have been using AVG and avast! and think they are great. And
not a bad price I might add. Thanx for the help! T. Khan
