internet is slow

Hi everyone, my problem is that every time I log onto the
internet it works great for about 5 minutes. Then, all
of a sudden, it just grinds to a halt. After this
happens it will either do nothing at all or will take
several minutes to open a web page. My computer is a Dell
Lattitude laptop running windows XP. I use dial up and
have two seperate service providers but it has the same
problem with both. I also have Internet Explorer and
Netscape navigator but it they both have the problem.
Any thoughts? Thanks, Adam
