... no matter which browser (i tried 3) or email client, its

nobody home. Yet the router can see my IBM Thinkpad.

Am running WinXP Pro; this came out of the blue and pretty

much renders this black beauty worthless. I work on a

linksys wireless but immediately put a pcmcia direct card

in and there is no difference. IPCONFIG returns either

all 0's or a 169 address if you reset the router. My

first reaction was to repair/reinstall windows. But with

all the hassle of 50+ updates I didn't want to dig a

deeper hole and not be able to connect to update. Thanks

all in advance, Please! I need this thing.

Sounds like your pc is set to get an ip automatically. However, if it
ends up with a 169.254.x.x address, this is because there was no DHCP
server with which to get a valid IP address. Is your router setup
properly to give an IP? Can you set the IP manually, using the router's
IP as your default gateway?

Thanks for quick reply! Yes, all else is well. Two
desktops on same net...one ethernet, one 802.11b that I am
writing this on. Also, have not had any errors, save the
standard message when browser can't find page. Other
browers are Mozilla Firebird, and Opera. IE 6.0 is by far
the most important and I was stunned last eve when all
three failed without warning. Currently the status box
reads: Connected; 100mbps; packets sent 96; packets
received 0; Duration 47 min. Thanks again, Rich

try putting your router in 'trusted sites' in internet options and in any
firewall

Remove hotfix 826942 or update your hardware with firmware that
supports/enables WPA authencation instead of WEP and you should be up and
running again.

Belkin made me reinstall my WinXP...and after getting the same problem
again, I decided to dig on my own and found the solution.

Please post your resolution to the group.
