What is the Internet Connection Icon in network
connections and why can I not get rid of it? It is not
ICS.

I have a LAN with a firewall so I do not need any gateway
services. I have tried reinstalling XP completely
disconnected from the network. And doing a custom install
with no network components. As soon as I add TCP/IP to
the LAN connection this stupid thing comes back. If I
disable it I cannot get to the web.

Well I got rid of this stupid thing. I stand corrected
about UPnP needing to be enabled on the PC. I disabled
UPnP on my router and the icon went away on its own. It
would be nice if the thing had somemore detail about what
it is. It does not say anything about the router. No IP
information, nothing. I wish Microsoft would stop
thinking everyone is and idiot and give me more control
over my own system.
