internet explorer

My internet explorer will not stay on. I can bring it up and it will stay on for a couple of seconds then the screen disappears. I use verizon dsl for internet access although this was not a problem with I started with Verizon 6 months ago. This is something new. I tried to download internet explorer from the Microsoft site but I get a message that says "I have a newer version already installed..." Any suggestions???
 
Hi,

Reinstall Internet Explorer this way: Control Panel/Folder Options/View tab,
make sure you are set to see hidden and system files. Then open Windows
Explorer and locate the ie.inf file under C:\Windows\Inf. Right-click it and
choose "install" to begin.
