Did the setting for using the same/using separate windows get changed? For multiple windows: Internet Explorer: Internet Options> Advanced: Remove check from box next to "reuse windows for launching shortcuts." Windows Explorer: Folder Options> View: place a check next to "launch folder windows in a separate process."
