This is not a major problem but it has been bugging me for some times now. I try to set a home page so everytime i start internet explorer it opens to this page but everytime i do it just goes back to the default setting.

Any ideas how i can stop this?

Thanks

Install Ad-Aware & SpywareBlaster, update and run the programs you'll find the links in my "sig" ... ;)

ah, depends what the default is, if it's some random page then yeah go with mucks, but if it's the msn default then you'll need to go to the address that you want as your homepage eg http://www.xeontech.co.uk then go tools then options then click use current under the homepage dialogue box.

I already have Ad-aware but i have not got spyware blaster but i will. I have already tried going to the page i want as my homepage and trying to set it as current but it still does the same when i restart internet explorer. It always loads up to blank page.

I will see if syware makes any diffence but i would still like any more tips people have to solving the problem.

Thanks

SpywareBlaster "prevents" Malware installing, it does not remove it.

How to configure Ad-aware for a full scan.

2. Click on the Scanning button on the left and select :

  • Scan Within Archives

  • Deep Scan Registry
  • Scan my IE favorites for banned URL’s
  • Scan my Hosts file
  • Under Click here to select drives + folders, choose:

May I just mention here that AdAware alone will not remove all malicious adware and spyware.

There is also a program that does a similar job to AdAware named Spybot Search & Destroy.

I have found for some time now that one of these programs will always pick up what the other has missed. I really would recommend running both, imo they're both excellent.

Having said that, since I've installed SpyWareBlaster on my daughter's machine, those two programs mentioned above have had very little work to do ;)

The latest version of Spybot Search and Destroy is V1.3, btw, and there have been three updates since V1.3's release.
