My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:
i have purchased a second hand computer with xp home installed, all
seems well except that internet explorer does not seem to be
installed. i do not have the xp installation cd. is it possible to
obtain and install explorer in some other way.
If you bought the PC without the CD (or another method to recover the
installed OS) then you have, according to my understanding of the EULA, a
paperweight until you buy the OS. In the meantime the files are still there.
You really might want to consider getting a disk and reformatting for a
variety of reasons including security and legal reasons in that you're now
responsible (likely) for anything on that PC even if you didn't put it there
as it's now owned by you.
