Recently in the UK a Computer security company stated.. The most dangerous
software to breech security on a pc was...... Internet Explorer.. Am I
suprised... I dont think so.... Any comments on this?????

It is the most widely used and thus the most targeted for exploits.

It is capable of doing more than most, every capability (ActiveX for
example) is another avenue for abuse.

Running content locally is a problem, but it has to be catered for and is
probably the biggest factor.

ASP.NET and .NET in general seek to mitigate that considerably.

Where is the UK company's browser? When can we look at theirs which will
undoubtedly be much better?

That statement is so vague as to defy comment. What is meant by "most
dangerous software"? What is meant by "breech security"? When assigning
blame, how do you distinguish betwwen Internet Explorer and the rest of
Windows?

I dont pretend to be an expert just a user that has been driven mad by
windows. I did however try something out. Install windows xp.. Dont update
it..remove Internet explorer..Install a registry monitor to stop programs
accessing the net without my say so.. Install Firefox or Mozilla browsers..
Very rarely get popups... The junk mail seems to have dropped to a minimum.
No crashes..In fact the best it`s run since I had windows 3.1. on an old 486.
I consider wrongly or rightly that I.E. is a pathway onto my pc.. Only me..
dont copy me cause If you do and it dont work dont blame me.. As I said I`m
no expert.

You cannot remove IE from WinXP. You can only remove access to it. It is
still there. Without access to IE you cannot update Windows, and running
WinXP without the security updates is asking for trouble.
