Ok, weird friggin problem. A person in our company has recently
complained that a certain site doesn't work that they access all the
time. The site is a microsoft events site, and it normally works fine.
The address is:
http://msevents.microsoft.com/CUI/W...&EventCategory=3&culture=en-US&CountryCode=US
Anyways, I got ahold of it and it worked fine, so I just dismissed the
problem and told them to try again. No avail. Tried it on a few
different systems on the network, and some will work, some won't.
Doesn't seem to be an admin priviledges thing, nor does it seem to be a
firewall thing, I can almost 100% guarantee that it is a IE thing.
I have PortableFireFox on my USB key, and, from a PC that cannot
connect through Internet Explorer, I use FF and it works perfectly.
IE6 just won't work. Again, on some systems it does, others it doesnt.
We are talking a combination of Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP SP2, and
Windows Server 2003 R02. Some work, some don't All of them have the
same set of updates (given by a Windows Update Server) and all have the
same firewall rules.
It has to be Internet Explorer if other browsers work fine, I just
can't figure out what is the problem. Any ideas would be greatly
appreciated.
