I recently signed up for DSL and in order to install it I must first install
Internet Explorer 6. I already have Internet Explorer 5 but must update to 6.
I've had tried numerous times to do this and it always starts the
installation process but then never quite finishes and always comes up with a
prompt that says that not everything was installed. When I click on help it
says that the set up files are correct but they will not install. Any
reccomendations? Help will be greatly appreciated.

As already posted:

Are you running WinME?

If you are, try this:

Go to My Computer - Tools - Folder Options - View:
- Select "Show hidden files and folders", click Apply - OK

Create a folder named "Old uninstall".

Go to folder C:/Program Files/Internet Explorer/Uninstall Information.

Now Edit - Select All - Cut all files.

Open "Old uninstall" folder and paste the files.

You will now be able to install all the troublesome components.

If everything works as expected, you can delete the "Old Uninstall" folder
and the files you moved.

Good luck,

Zee

When installing IE, it's best to first do a power-off reboot, then disable
any anti-virus program you may have running, then do a CTRL+ALT+DEL and End
Task on everything on the list except (Windows) Explorer and Systray. Then
try your install again. This method will help prevent any program you may
have running in the background, and the anti-virus software, from
interfering with the install of IE. Some AV software just plain messes up
an install of IE, and other programs may be using a file that IE needs to
update/replace/remove.

If no joy, post back with the exact error message you are getting.
