My new dell is setup with a separate account for my kids. When I choose
switch user without closing IE, the other accounts cannot use IE. Is it not
possible for IE to remain running on one user, switch users, and run IE on
the other as well?

Hi,

There's no reason you shouldn't be able to do that. I would suspect that
perhaps a plug-in is blocking this. Disable these under tools/internet
options/programs by clicking the button the manage them. Disable all
non-microsoft ones first to see if this is the cause.

Didn't help, maybe I need to repair windows. Would McAfee Privacy service
cause this problem?

try disable that utility or reinstall internet explorer

insert the windows install cd
start – run – and type or copy/paste:

rundll32.exe setupapi, InstallHintSection DefaultInstall132
c:\Windows\inf\ie.inf

hit enter

rundll32.exe setupapi

the post is:

insert the windows install cd
start – run – and type:

rundll32.exe setupapi, InstallHintSection DefaultInstall132
c:\Windows\inf\ie.inf

hit enter..

It was a double post at the bottom after enter

Cleared up the problem by eliminating an unverified McAfee Anti-phishing add
on.

Thanks to all who helped.
