Internet Explorer will not run

I just install SP2 on a system running XP Home. After the update, when
I launch IE, the app will open for just a second, then closes out. I've
check the Task list and it's not listed as still running. I can't find
anything on MS Knowlege Base on this. Any ideas?

You could try temporarily disabling your third party browser extensions
(Internet Options > Advanced > Enable third-party browser.....)

and / or selectively disabling add-ons via
(Internet Options > Programs > Manage Add-ons)

Right-click the desktop internet explorer icon > Properties to get to
internet explorer properties
or create a desktop shortcut to
%windir%\System32\control.exe inetcpl.cpl

1. Uninstall SP2 via Add/Remove Programs and reboot.

2. Run a thorough check for hijackware, including posting your HijackThis
log to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis (http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip)
is the preferred tool to use. It will help you to both identify and remove
any hijackware/spyware.

**Post your HijackThis log to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/,
http://castlecops.com/forum67.html, http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30 or
other appropriate forum for expert analysis, not here.**

3. Do not install SP2 until an expert gives your HijackThis log a clean bill
of health.
