Internet Explorer will not OPEN after installing SP2

I have tried everywhere. When I install SP2 on my SP1 Home Edition, Internet
Explorer refused to open. It's in the Tasklist but will not open on the
screen. I need to install the new MESSENGER so I can chat with my wife when
she's not home but it will not let me install on SP1. I can't install
either one so why will IE not work at all.. This morning I formatted my
hard drive, reinstalled windows then updated to SP2. SAME THING...will not
work. It works on my laptop and my wifes computer but definately not on my
computer.
I have used several scanners, malware scanners, I use Kaspersky Internet
suite. I have used HiJackThis, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Spy-Bot. NOTHING
shows up. Why in heck does my Internet explorer not open. This is getting
pretty old. NOBODY knows the answer.

What error you get when you try to open?
Did you checked that SP2 was successfully installed and not damaged or
corrupted installation due to a slow connection or an Anti-virus corrupt one
of the files during the download and install?
