I'm trying to install activclient smart card reading software but a message
appears saying "You must be running IE 5.5 SP2 or higher to install, upgrade
software and try again" .......problem is, I am running IE 7 , is there
something I can do to convince this app. that I am actually running IE 7?
Registry?

Your computer is undoubtedly telling the software that IE7 is
installed. The problem is that the software was written before IE7 was
released and doesn't recognize IE7 as valid. Check with the
software's author to see if there's an updated version.

Another possible solution is to download and install the free User
Agent String Utility from Microsoft. It lets you open an IE7 window
that is configured to report its identity to websites as being IE6:

Steve,
Thanks for responding. I tried you advice with no luck. I failed to
mention, I installed the same software on my Desktop, and it has IE 7, and
did not have this problem.
Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance

You're welcome. I suggest that you post this question in news group
microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general, where there are people who
know more about IE7 than I do.
