Internet Explorer using 100% CPU

Problem occurs using IE6.0 SP1. CPU usage @ 100% when
initiating browser. Other browsers (Mozilla-Firefox) don't
create this problem. Once IE initiated, browsing can occur.
However, cannot close browser without proceeding through
Task Manager. Also, cannot initiate trading platform at
htttp://www.ptsjtrader.com/alaron.asp. IE is only browser
currently that trade platform uses.
Ran AVG anti-virus scan, Ad-aware scan, Spy-bot spyware
scan, cleaned cache of files and cookies. Problem still
exists. Please help with concise resolution procedures.
Thank you.

Hi,
Some possibilities...
Several of the problems hint at malware. If Ad-aware and Spybot didn't find
it, go to http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm Work through
steps 1-6 then step 7- post a HijackThis log to the forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30
See "Instructions for posting HJT logs" at
http://forum.aumha.org/viewtopic.php?t=4075

Later, see security tips at:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
http://www.aumha.org/a/parasite.htm

For "IE won't close" and maybe the trading platform problem, disable, for
diagnostic purposes, programs running in the background which interact with
IE. Look at antivirus, other security, toolbars or add-ons to IE, firewalls,
ad-blockers, etc. A program may need to be reinstalled- or not reinstalled.
Or, removing aforementioned malware may fix these problems also.

Hope this helps,
Don

I had this problem with iexplore and explorer running 100%.

I downloaded and ran mozilla instead of I.E. now. Its been 3 days and
I've not had a single problem since then.

I ran norton, spybot, ad aware, hijack this, cwshredder.

I think there is a problem on some laptops with windows xp sp1 and
explorer. The only solution that has worked for me is using mozilla
instead of ie.

I used to get the problem 2 to 3 times a day and had to reboot. Its
been 3 days now and i'm keeping my fingers crossed!
