after downloading i experience to problems. 1st i receive
mutiple 'blocked' messages all of which say "Internet
Explorer URL for Search Url has been blocked from being
changed from websearch.drsnsrch.com/q.cgi?q= to
websearch.drsnsrch.com/q.cgi?q=. This is a known browser
hijack attempt. Note that the 'to' and 'from' URLs are
identical.
2nd problem. When i attempt to run the scan, nothing
happens. Even after clicking on Run, the 'Last Run'
history indicates that no scans have been run.
Is the first problem in any way related to the second?

Which build of Microsoft AntiSpyware are you running? Also run a scan with
following AntiSpyware utilities:
Ad-Aware - http://www.lavasoftusa.com
Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://www.intermute.com/products/cwshredder.html
Spy Sweeper - http://www.webroot.com

The IE Search URL should be,
http://home.microsoft.com/access/autosearch.asp?p=%s.
The one you mention I believe belongs to a shopping
site. When I typed in drsnsrch.com in Google, it came
back with a link to shopnav.com. I'd suggest going to
Tools > Advanced Tools > Browser Hijack Settings Restore
and change the Search URl entry to
http://home.microsoft.com/access/autosearch.asp?p=%s.

As for the second issue, it can take a while for the scan
to start. At times on my system it's taken about a
minute for the scan to actually start. It appears to be
doing nothing, but it is initializing the scan. You can
also try scanning in Safe Mode (press F8 before the
Windows screen during boot/reboot). You can also try
reinstalling MSAS. If go go this route, remove the
application using the installer, or Add or Remove
Programs as a last resort. Then rename the MSAS folder
in c:\program files to end with .old or delete it
entirely, and reboot the system. Now reinstall the
application and reboot once again. This might solve the
scanning issue.
