Internet explorer updates via GPO?

Does anyone know how to rollout IE updates via GPO's? I've downloaded IE6
SP1 from MS, but there's no MSI file. I've setup and run IEAK6, but there's
no MSI there either. Now I have a "package", BFD, I need something that can
be installed automatically under the sytem account. Seems to me that there
should be an easy way to update IE. TIA.

Hi Mats,

My name is Dennis Schmidt. Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows
Installer Newsgroups.

The IEAK is the only route to automating the process (can't do with an
.msi). I believe that you can create a GPO with a startup script that will
then install the update to IE.

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please

Hi Dennis, thanks for the quick response. I've already installed IEAK and
created a custom package. I've gone through the help files, and I don't see
how to do the installs automatically. If I don't use GPO's to do the
installs, what's the mechanism? I can't do it via a logon script be cause
most of my users don't have admin perms.

Hi Martin. Thanks for that lead. They don't answer the phone... to busy
it seems. The guys on chat support can't help out... I wish I understood
German, your article looks thorough. I will keep working on MS to give me
the MSI.

Does anybody else have a workable MSI for IE 6 sp1?

Thanks.
