Yesterday 4-16-06 I received a security update notification for IE 6. I
downloaded it and now when I type in a destination in the address bar nothing
happens. I can still get to all of my previous links, but I go nowhere when
I type an address. How can this be remedied??? Please advise. Thanks in
advance.

I am having the same problem, along with Windows Word and Excel not opening
up a file when I start them up... if I doubleclick on the filename to open
it, no problem. But the Open command hangs.

The only way I can browse with IE6 now is to type in the address in the
Google toolbar search box.

Whatever changes were made were pretty disastrous to the use of all of these
programs.

Hi Don,

I did the regedit fix at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=918165 which
doesn't seem to have fixed the Word/Excel issue.

I'm running Win2000 not XP. Will this tweak script work?

Hi,
If you have HPs Share to Web software installed, download and run the VBS
file "HP's Share-to-Web software - Fix " at
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm Line 383.

If Share to Web is not installed, or that fix doesn't work, see
http://www.aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=19125

Hope this helps,

The Registry edit referenced in Resolutions section of 918615 above can be
implemented by downloading:

HP's Share-to-Web software - Fix (Line 383, Right)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use: Download the .vbs file and save it to your hard drive (you may want
to right click and use Save Target As). Double-click the vbs file. You will
be prompted when the script is done.

Hi again, Don-- I think it's fixed now. THANKS! -Perry-
