I am having the worst problems with pop-ups and other
security issues.I've installed all of the patches from
Microsoft's homepage. When I search the Microsoft website
in regards to security issues it says that I should
simply change the security settings through the tools
menu. My tools menu does not include a security tab...it
has general, privacy, content, connections and programs
but no security or advnced tabs. When I go to download
what is supposed to be the latest version of internet
explorer it says that I already have the latest version.
I am at a loss any ideas would be appreciated.

Windows version? Have you visited Windows Update lately using the "pure" IE
browser and not the AOL browser?

See this archived thread: http://snurl.com/1vpk

Start>Run>Regedit> in each of these keys...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control
Panel

HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control
Panel

if in the right-pane you see...

"SecurityTab"=dword:00000001

right-click on it and Modify the 1 [one] to a 0 [zero], or just Delete
"SecurityTab".
(-Frank Saunders, TonyKlein, Mike Burgess)

IIWY I'd want to know how it came to be set to 1 [one]...
