Running Win XP Home SP2. IE6 will not allow connection to any web sites that
require activex. In the IE6 tools, options the temp internet folder location
is blank and disk space is set at 0MB (cannot change). Security levels are
"missing" and cannot adjust??

Have run and cleaned for spyware, virus, etc...etc..

ANY help to resolve is greatly appreciated....should I remove SP2?

I did uninstall SP2 and VOILA...all began working well again.

However, I then began installing MS Critical updates...after installing and
rebooting; there was no longer Internet accessibility:-(

I then began uninstalling the SP2?? listed critical updates (don't
understand their "individual" existence since SP2 was reversed??) and when I
uninstalled Hotfix KB811493....I once again have a viable IE6 program and
connectivity!!

Is this reasonable??

If there is spyware installed on the machine it is not unusual for SP2 to
have problems. Also, if you had an anti-virus running during the SP2
install that can cause serious problems.

First eliminate any spyware.

Thank You. With your links and reference to the proper tools, I was able to
clean the massive "infections" and ultimately repair this system. Very much
appreciated!
