When using Internet Explorer I am not able to populate any
drop down box, i.e. user name, password, etc. I've tried
to download Service Pack 6.1, but when I try to install it
I get a message stating a later version already exists and
the update cannot continue. How can I delete my current
version of IE so I can download an uncorrupted version?

Patrick,

You haven't mentioned the Operating System. The below tip is for Windows XP.

How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows
XP:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378

[Set the registry key "IsInstalled" to 0]

304872 - Unable to Install Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=304872

========================================
Double-check if you have changed the correct registry key. Coz, there are
several similar keys in that location. Visit
www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and download the fix named "enable
reinstallation of internet explorer".

This fix automatically sets the IsInstalled flag value to 0. Restart Windows
and start Internet Explorer setup again.
