internet explorer problem

I have the fast dsl system from bellsouth. Cannot get on the internet. Everytime I try it says internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. I have exhausted all my tech support avenues. Bell south says I have to repair internet explorer but everything I have tried doesn't work. I am at my whitts end. Can sombody help?
