Internet Explorer problem

Internet Explorer no longer runs. I have Verizon.net, so I can get on
the web all right, but if I find a link on a newsgroup it tries to
open it with Internet Explorer!

Internet Explorer shows this message upon opening;


C++ RUNTIME LIBRARY

Runtime Error
Program: C:\Program Files/Internet Explorer/iexplorer.exe
abnormal program termination


Then, if I try to get details, it tells me that an instruction at a
location referrs to a memory location and the memory can not be read.

Try that before anything else... also, don't apply any
patches or updats, and when you do... do them one at a
time, maybe one of the patches is causing your ploblem.

Actually, I went to the HP customer service site, followed their
instructions and managed to screw up my computer r e a l good! We had
to do the non-intrusive recovery to get it back. Boy am I in the
doghouse over [that] one!
