hiya

ive been experiencing this problem for a bit of time
but only started to write abt it now

well im just downloading rite two files using internet explorer
they are both downloading properly.
but while both of them are downloading i cant seem to start to download a third file
and also i cant seem to surf on another site in internet explorer.
im not sure what im doing wrong

im sure be4 i could download 6 files at least before it would do this
but i never remember the browsing stopping

does anyone have any ideas?
could it be a setting in my router or internet explorer?

im using a linksys router, windows xp pro sp2
and broadband ar 1mb

many thanks

It's probably that you don't have enough Bandwidth to download and surf freely at the same time.....Depends how fast the downloads are...

Only 6 at a time....You don't want much do ya psd.....:p

well im sure 2 is really appauling!

im very dissapointed!

enough bandwith?
with 1 mb im sure i can download more than 2 things on internet explorer!

XP has a limit on the nuber of concurrent connections i believe its 25, do you have norton firewall i know you can see how many connections there are in that but i dont know if its possible with other firewalls

Yup, its a connection limit to the server. If you try to download 2 files from a specific website you can't access any more or get anything to load from it.

One way to get around this is to download a free download manager - there are loads of good ones about and will bypass this problem :)

well if its a limit on some sites

then i rekon i should just forget abt it many thanks

im sure there is no patch?

thers no limit on websites, its XP itself and its not really a patch but a 'tweak' by some guy

No limits on my system or from whatever site ...

Although I usually wait for one donload to finnish before starting another ... makes sence when downloading updates for Nero. :D

Now that was from ISP NTL (using true Broadband Fibre Optic :p ) ... haven't tried it with BT. So I suppose I could be wrong.
