internet explorer opening

I have internet explorer 6.0 opening on its own, sometimes when I'm not even
in it, and sometimes when I. I've had it open, even when I'm not connected
to my ISP or network. I goes to my designated homepage, and no where
else....it's not a typical pop-up. It happens occasionally, and at its
worse, it opened 50 new IE windows within a minute. Sometimes it's triggered
by typing something on the keyboard. I've had numerous spyware programs run,
but that hasn't solved the problem. I'm running XP on a 730 MHz Dell, that
originally had Windows ME. The problem didn't start until I had the machine
wiped clean with more RAM added, and XP added. I've tried to keep up with
updates (including the recent Sp2) and have scanned for viruses with up to
date definitions.Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

XP SP2 is full of bugs which could be the problem, but it sounds more like
you've been hijacked. Spyware programs don't always find those. Run some
hijacker apps.
