PLS HELP. This is an intermittent but serious problem with
my IE 6.0.2800.1106.XPSP2. No spyware. Hangs on access to
certain websites at certain times. Big hourglass appearing
and you're forced to shut down program with task manager.
The usual error reporting to Microsoft follows. Then
unable to shut down normally. When it's not hanging, it's
all fine.
I had a suspicion that Q818506, even if successfully
installed, wouldn't cure the ailment.
I read in Support and Newsgroup that the patch Q867801
might actually be the culprit. So I uninstalled it and, on
their recommendation, installed Q871260 which is supposed
to be a revised version of Q867801. Hourglass and 'not
responding' problem appears to be even worse! Now I am
beginning to suspect the XP patch Q814995. Uninstalling
IE6 is such a convoluted mess. Should not have applied all
those patches and hotfixes. What is the XPSP2 in IE for? I
have not applied XP Service Pack 2. Microsoft, would
Service Pack 2 remedy this?
