Ive only had XP a few weeks, although I had to do a restore 2 days ago,
almost back to the beginning of the instal.
I opened IE up (to my homepage) - typed in an address <yes, it was correct
and valid> and it refused to do anything. I opened a favourite - no
problems. The only way I could get into the site and any other site I
wanted, was to do a search in google and then click on the address. I
shouldnt have to do this. What could be the problem?

Thanks Wes. Yes I did - Im not a new user as such, I am very familiar with
pc's - I'm just a new user of XP
I tried all sorts of ways to trick it (that's why I did a search in Google,
so I could try clicking on the address direct). It seems to work that way,
but when I manually type the address in, it doesnt respond.

Hello Judy,

This *might* help...

In Internet Explorer, follow these steps:

1. Quit all programs that are running.
2. Click [Start], and then click | Run |.
3. Type
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
and then click [OK].
4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer
in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click [OK].

If this does not resolve the problem,
repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files
(in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file
names below):

Shdocvw.dll
Msjava.dll
Actxprxy.dll
Oleaut32.dll
Mshtml.dll
Browseui.dll
Shell32.dll
