internet explorer messed up

I have windows millenium edition on my system. I have been having problems
lately with it. When I type in any website address, My browser goes to a
website search engine. It does this no matter what I do .. Do I have spy
ware attached to my computer? Now the explorer is giving me a vis c++ run
time error and i can not even use it. How do I get rid of this prob
please help me......

Install either but both are not necessary, reboot, read FAQ and overview, use
online update feature to obtain the latest reference files, scan for Spyware
